Where's the Water
A downloadable game for Windows
Where's the Water is a 3D puzzle and education game. The goal of Where’s the Water is to bring awareness to the issue, and educate players on how water is collected, treated and used. Additionally, the goal is to show the importance of water in society and nature, while encouraging players to do their part in understanding, respecting, and conserving water.
Level Mechanics:
The game takes the form of a pipe connection puzzler. The player must connect variously shaped pipe objects to allow water to flow from a given source to a target. As levels become more complex the water may need to cross certain objects or be interacted with in different ways to meet the criteria to pass a given level.
Should any puzzle elements not be properly aligned or if any of the pipe elements degrade through our rust system and a lack of maintenance by the player, water will leak out of the system. This will negatively impact the players final score.
Each level will contain one or more minigames that must be completed in order to solve the puzzle and complete the level. Each minigame will be in line with the theme of the given level, for example our tutorial level has a minigame that represents water filtration.
Levels will allow for light platforming to add a sense of verticality to the game and provide players with a better vantage point to plan out their strategy used for solving the puzzle of a given level.
A players score will be determined by the time taken to solve the puzzle, their minigame score as well as how much (if any) water leaked out of the pipe system.
Education Mechanics:
We have created a system we call the Journal that acts as both an educational tool as well as a trophy system for the player. As the player completes levels depending on their high score they will unlock one of three different thresholds of rewards. These rewards take the form of journal entries that teach our players about topics that relate to the levels they were unlocked in. Players must achieve score of 80 or more in a given level in order to fully complete all the journal entries associated with that level.
